| DESCRIPTION | This photo is of the Salem Brewery on the northeast corner of Commercial & Trade Streets in Salem, Oregon. At the far left of it, the 2-story lighter-colored building is the old Klinger & Beck's Capital Brewery of the 1890's. Beck died in 1899 & Klinger sold the business to the Salem Brewery Association. In 1913 Salem went dry and this business moved to Portland; after prohibition was repealed, they re-incorporated again and in 1943 it became Sick's Brewery. Many improvements were made, additional property acquired, and new equipment brought in. The building was torn down in 1955. |
