| DESCRIPTION | This photograph is an interior view of the dining room of the Dr. John McLoughlin House in Oregon City in Clackamas County. The photo shows a dining table, chairs, and wall mirror that once may have been at Fort Vancouver. The two-story frame house was built in 1846 and is now used as a museum. McLoughlin (1784-1857) was the chief factor of the Hudson's Bay Company on the Columbia River and is often called ""the Father of Oregon"" because of his involvement in the establishment of government in Oregon Territory. |
