TITLEMarion Hotel at Ferry and South Commercial Street in Salem, Oregon, 1961
COLLECTIONBen Maxwell
DESCRIPTIONThis is a picture of one of Salem's oldest hotels as it was in 1961. Once known as Chemeketa House, the hotel known as the Marion Hotel for most of its history and located on the corner of Ferry and S. Commercial Streets has been remodeled. The 4-story building had extensively used banquet facilities until it was destroyed by fire in the early 1960's. Note the Antique Shop with its window exhibit in the front corner of the hotel. A street sign indicates Salem's one-way street grid downtown.
