TITLESW corner Commercial & Ferry streets in Salem, Oregon, 1955
COLLECTIONBen Maxwell
DESCRIPTIONThese buildings were at the SW corner of Commercial & Ferry streets in Salem, Oregon in 1955. It appears to date from before 1890 when a Chinese laundry occupied the far left section with two offices between it and the post office on the corner itself. The streets were renumbered in 1904, and the block became the 200's with the Women's Christian Temperance Hall at 201 and the Statesman Publishing Company at 215 (west side). The building is brick and 2-stories with bracketing below the roofline for the entire 3 bays, but the bay on the corner has arches over the 1st floor windows whereas the other 2 bays do not. Signs indicate it was occupied by Lambert's Furniture and Antiques. A taller building is to the left of it and is separate.
