| DESCRIPTION | This is the Jordan Covered Bridge spanning Thomas Creek near the concrete dam which helped to provide electricity to Scio in years prior. The bridge was built in 1937 at a cost of $1850 and had a rounded portal openings when this picture was taken. The bridge was 90 feet in length and had a Howe truss. The World Guide # was 37-22-01. In 1985, the bridge was removed and the pieces moved to Stayton's Pioneer Park where it was rebuilt. In 1994, a electrical short in Christmas lights caused the bridge to burn. It was rebuilt with all new wood in 1998. A concrete bridge now spans Thomas Creek where this old covered bridge once crossed the stream. |
