| TITLE | The Jason Lee House in Salem, Oregon |
| COLLECTION | Ben Maxwell |
| DESCRIPTION | The Jason Lee House was originally sited on the north bank of Mill Creek. Here these early Methodist missionaries had set up a water-powered combination lumber and grist mill. Other information says it was originally sited at 960 Broadway near N. Liberty in Salem, Oregon. This earliest known frame building in Salem was constructed in 1841 of milled lumber and built in a simple, federal style of architecture. In the photo, the house is being readied for moving. The photo was taken February 28, 1963. It is now located in Mission Mill Museum complex. |
