Early buildings at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon
Pictured are two of the early buildings at Willamette University in Salem, Marion County, Oregon. The building on the left is Eaton Hall, completed in 1909 and the building on the right is Waller Hall, the first building on campus, which was built in 1864-67 from bricks fashioned on the site. Willamette University was established in 1842 by Methodist missionary Jason Lee and is the first university built west of the Mississippi River. This picture is from the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
