State Street looking west from High Street, Salem, Oregon, c1915
This photo of State Street looking west from High Street was taken about 1915. The buiding on the right is the 7-story Masonic Building erected by Salem's two Masonic lodges in 1912. The first four floors were rented to businesses. Terra cotta was used for the exterior, and interior corridors, lavatories and the lobby have tile flooring with marble wainscoting. On the opposite corner is the Hubbard Building which also housed the Oregon Electric Depot. Street car tracks extend down the middle of the roadway and crowds of people can be seen on the sidewalks.
