DESCRIPTION	Pictured is the steeple of the First United Methodist Church at 600 State Street in downtown Salem. It is seen against a clouded evening sky so that it is almost a silhouette. The church was built in 1877-78 and additions to it in the years since have attempted to keep to the same gothic architecture. The photo is from the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
