DESCRIPTION
This is the first brick house west of the Rocky Mountains as seen in 1936. It was built 1841 in Polk County, Oregon by George Kirby Gay. The bricks were made on the ground. When the picture was taken the house was very much falling apart. The roof was caved in and several bricks were missing.
