Pictured is an Asylum Avenue Streetcar turning off Liberty onto Chemeketa Street in the 1890s. The Gilbert home is in the backghround. Asylum Avenue ran from 14th east to the city limits and was three blocks east of State Street. The name Asylum Avenue was a continuation of Center, which ran from the river to 14th. Center is three blocks east of State Street.
