DESCRIPTION
This is the old overflow channel covered bridge at Stayton in Linn County. The bridge over the North Santiam River can be seen in the background. The covered bridge spans a high water channel of the North Santiam River near Stayton, about 1/2 mile south of Stayton near Scio/Kingston Road. This bridge replaced an earlier covered bridge which was damaged in the 1921 flood. This bridge was built in 1924 and lasted into the 1940s. It was a 100-foot span. When photographed, the bridge was nearing the end of its useful life. The siding boards have already been removed.
