DESCRIPTION
This is Crawfordsville Covered Bridge (World Guide No. 37-22-15) in Linn County as seen in 1962. The bridge is located at Crawfordsville. The 105 feet long Howe bridge spans Calapooia River. The bridge was built in 1932 and is maintained by the Linn County Parks Department. The bridge was named for Philemon Crawford, who founded the town. The covered bridge had rounded entry-ways until the highway department enlarged and braced the corners to handle bigger loads. In 1963 the bridge was discontinued to traffic and bypassed. At that time Linn County Court gave it to the Linn County Historical Society.
