This little town in the Wallowa Valley has a very unique traffic sign at the entrance to their town. It reads: ""This little town is heaven to us. Don't drive like hell thru it"". The picture was taken in September 1960. The town of Joseph was named for Chief Joseph, who claimed the valley as his ancestral home. That brought on a war with the whites.
