This is a photo of a house in Salem, Oregon, taken by Bob Koval in 1978 as part of a CETA grant project to make a photographic record of historic Salem homes. This house, constructed in c.1927, is located at 1015 15th Street NE. The architectural characteristics of this one-story home include half timber design at the roof gable end, double hung windows, an arched opening at the entry porch, double and triple hung windows in sequence and a combination hipped and gable end roof. Two projecting gables on the left side of the house both have awnings over their respective windows. The front porch is a small, enclosed step-through. A concrete walkway and retaining wall enclose the yard at knee level. The exterior brick chimney with a stucco finish is on the left side of the house. The garage and driveway are on the left and extend to the back of the house. A brick planter box extends off to the left side of the front porch. The yard includes a lawn, several shrubs, a new tree, and a large tree around back. The architectural style is the English Tudor and Vernacular style.
