Pictured is the building at 220 Cottage Street in downtown Salem which housed the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce for many years. It was built in 1923 and had an addition to the right of it in 1950. The building was bought by the Y.M.C.A. about 1995 but was burned in 1997. It is a substantial looking two-story frame dwelling with three dormers across the front, and probably a chimney on both ends, although only one can be seen. There are four two-story columns rising from a porch across the front, the windows have shutters, and there is a central front door. The capitol dome can be seen in the distance on the right and the brick of the 1st Presbyterian Church on the left. The photo is from the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce collection.
