DESCRIPTION
The Salem flood of 1890, looking northeast from Frye's hill (High Street & Oak). The Willamette River overflows its banks to cover all of the present downtown area. The Marion County Courthouse building is shown at center left, while the First Methodist Church is to the right. The water level appears to reach the windows on the first floor of some homes, and higher on others.
